My mommy always says Heaven and Earth work together at The Faris Foundation. I think that’s her way of saying that when people work with this much love and purpose, they are never doing the work alone.
From where I sit, I see how that love has been magnified this year. I see love carried into action – by scientists, artists, families, and friends who decided not just to feel, but to do.
I see scientists whose research is supported by the Foundation asking braver questions, working with the immune system, thinking in new ways. And I see knowledge being shared, not kept. From where I sit, I see you choosing the children who are still waiting for safer, kinder treatments.
I see creative arts programs reaching more children, helping them feel like themselves on hard days. I saw another music therapist join the cancer center this year, supporting families through their whole journey – even the hardest parts. That felt like a very good idea. Because joy matters. And from where I sit, I know every child deserves this kind of healing.
I see gold shining farther every September – my wish coming true! More people noticing kids with cancer. More people remembering. More people bringing awareness by saying, “Let there be GOLD” and meaning it. Gold helps children be seen. And from where I sit, being seen matters.
I see Good JuJu care packages going home to be wrapped with care, each item inside carefully chosen for one child. Each one saying, you matter. Girl Scout troops, families, whole companies wrapping joy. I see over a thousand boxes of joy traveling to 47 states. That’s a whole lotta love and Good JuJu going out into the world!
So, from where I sit, I see so much happening at the foundation as we enter our 7th year. Well done, earthlings. You are doing beautiful work. You are bringing brighter days and better treatments to children with cancer. And I’m cheering you on more than you know.
